Students enlightened at PUJA-UTB SC Introductory Session

Giving his opening speech at today’s Introductory Session organised by Pertubuhan Ukur, Jurutera dan Arkitek (PUJA) Brunei’s Student Chapter under Universiti Teknologi Brunei’ (UTB), the President of PUJA-UTB SC, Yang Ming Kian, explained the benefits of joining the student body association – highlighting their activities as platforms to gain opportunities for its members.

The Student Chapter was formed in 2015 with an aim to encourage its members to gain extra knowledge and experience, said the student body President. In doing so, the association has conducted and participated in various events and programmes since its establishment.
“From the beginning of the year, we have been involved in a lot of activities (...) [including] the ASEAN CCS 92nd Meeting (...) [and the] Beach Cleanup Activity held in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the PUJA Hub”
Featuring sharing sessions led by Ar. Zul Amali Dato Paduka Haji Idris (PUJA’s Vice-President under the Architecture Division), and Ir. Chin Lee Tuck (PUJA’s Secretary under the Engineer Division); the Introductory session serves as one of the PUJA’s many initiatives to promote its role in nurturing and supporting professionals in the construction industry. The event’s series of talks and discussions were aimed at encouraging new students to join the Student Chapter association while educating them on how PUJA can help pave their way to become a chartered professional.
Also present at the session was the Guest of Honour, PUJA’s President cum Legislative Council Member, Yang Berhormat FDr. Ar. Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman, PUJA’s Vice-President under the Engineer Division, Ir. Haji Md. Zin bin Haji Salleh, and PUJA’s Council Member, Ir. Bahrin bin Haji Mohammad.

An estimated total of 90 people attended the event, including first and second year UTB students taking Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as well as Architecture.
