Bandar Seri Begawan, 10th September 2022 – PUJA Architect Division and PUJA Academy Sdn Bhd (PASB) invited Ar. Mumtazah Mustajab from Malaysia, to share her experiences on Universal/Inclusive Designs in practice. She delivered a paper entitled ‘Universal Design: In Reality’. Ar. Mumtazah Mustajab is the Principal Architect from Mumtazah Architect and the Managing Director of ArchiSphere Sdn Bhd, Malaysia.

The seminar (held physically) looked into the various designs from around the world and further educates attendees with regards to various disabilities – that disabilities are not necessarily all visible to the eyes. All architects should also cater to people who have developmental disabilities as well, such as Autism and Aspergers. The seminar highlights that designs should enable facilities to be more accessible and help ease mobility for everybody.
The seminar was attended by over 30 participants consisting of PUJA members, Government Officers, Academia from University Brunei Darussalam, and professionals from the construction industry.
The seminar is a continuation and a follow up to a previous virtual seminar held by PUJA Academy Sdn Bhd which explored and highlighted the importance of building designs and also the importance in the inclusivity of the designs, taking into account the disabled community and making buildings more disabled-friendly.
PUJA Academy Sdn Bhd actively offers virtual webinars and courses to improve the competencies of (PUJA) members and the Construction Industry, with its mission to ‘Promoting Awareness, Improving Knowledge and Enhancing Experience’
