Despite being 90 years old, Brunei Darussalam’s oil and gas industry has remained strong and relevant, and is predicted to continually grow in the foreseeable future, as claimed by the  Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry, Dato Seri Paduka Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw in a workshop opening organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers on Tuesday, 23rd July, 2019.

Up to date, the industry has generated 97 percent of the country’s exports and 57 percent of its GDP, while providing employment to 20,000 workers in the nation. With $20 billion invested in the upstream and downstream projects over the upcoming years, it is predicted that the industry will require around 15,000 more workers to join its workforce.
